Lovely Lashes

I'm one of the unfortunates who harbors very few lashes, all of which are not very long at all. The volumizing mascaras and such work to a certain extent, but those pretty much just give me "normal" looking lashes.

So I've decided to look into fake lashes. Only I've never actually seen any, much less bought some, much less applied them. Please ladies, tell me all you know about fake lashes!

Thanks!

a couple of threads in the past... but sally's usually sports some unique looking lashes. Target/Wal-mart have them but they are either boring or too expensive all things considered.... I got two pair at sally's and I love my spider lashes, the coolest thing I have ever bought as far as a 'stick' on kind of item.

Biggest things you will hear people tell you is. Practice. Trim them to a comfortable lenght. Wait for the glue to become tacky. practice somemore.

There are two big differences/camps of though. When to put them on and in which direction. Before or after make up and from outside to inside. Both of these have pro's and con's and both are something you will have to just work through on your own... it's truly a personal preferance. I prefer putting on the eyeshadow first with a light line of eyeliner, then the eyelashs... then fill in with the liner.

I also have no preferenace for direction... I think on my left eye I put it on outside first and on my right inside first. Then I go back and fudge them... I think the biggest thing there (for me) is do I want the end of the lash flush with the outside corner or the inside. Depending on the impact of the lash I am going for will depend on if I want the bulk of the lash to the outside or to flush to the inside corner.... usually I'm going for max lash factor and distance if you will... so I make sure the outside corner lines up rather than the inside.

But I reiterate... it's personal preferance and you will only know once you start doing it...

oh yeah... don't try to put them on for the first time 15 minutes before a performance... it's just a bad idea. !! =)

    Good luck!

Fake lashes are the best! I always wear them for performance and costuming.

I usually put them on inside corner first, as I find that if they're too close to the inside corner of my eye, it's REALLY annoying whenever I blink.

There's already a bunch of good advice about false lashes, so I'd like to suggest something else in addition. My sister has (as she calls them) stubby lashes. She gets them tinted and loves the results. You can get this done at most salons and it's inexpensive. It lasts for a while too and makes them look long and fuller. Basically you're dying them all so the little skinny ones show up too. Something to consider. :o)

Two other ideas: I get really uncomfortable in strip lashes - one end or the other always seems to pop up after a while. I like using the "individual lashes" - little clusters of lashes you glue on separately. However, I use the "strip lash" glue. The glue specified for individual lashes is too harsh. These take practice too - But for me - they are way more comfortable.

The other option is to "grow your own". My hair - including a lot of my eyelashes - fell out from illness and medication. My eyelashes were never great to begin with - and never went back to where they were before I got sick. About 2 months ago I started using "Revitalash" in desperation. This is a product you apply at night - a clear liquid you put on like eyeliner before bed. It is ridiculously expensive - and I felt very foolish for buying it at first. 3 weeks later - my lashes are very long, and getting thicker and longer all the time. I don't really need the "falsies" anymore!

I was searching the internet a few weeks ago, looking for long, LONG spidey lashes, and found a lash site in Japan. Oh My Goodness what designs. All for people with more money than........................................ at at least $100 per PAIR. Way out of my budget.

    Kexie! <3

You know what's funny about false lashes and myself?
I cant seem to get the normal everyday wearing ones on...but those big ass ones with feathers and glitter...fricken A...they stick like mad. XD It's the funniest thing.
I've been horribly influenced by the other local troupes when it comes to false lashes for preformances. So I have litterly an entire box full of faux lashes now. (The day after Halloween was an especily exciting shopping trip for faux lashes!) We were the crazy colors, feathers, glitter, rinestones....we're such Divas.

I'd take the advice posted a bit ago, and go ahead and go to a good salon and have your lashes tinted. My troupe's instructor gets hers done all the time, and they look amazing. I think it'd be a better investment and better on your time and nerves then trying to put on fake lashes every morning...and you wouldnt have to worry about loosing them in a sudden down pour or something.
And I dont think it costs all that much either. Deffinatly look into it.

I've bought individual lashes...and practiced as much as I practice my Yoga and Belly Dance drills. STILL cannot get those sons of biscuits onto my lash line....I'm fine with any kind of eyeliner...just can't get those Ba$tards on!!!!
