This is probably the most informative site I've found: quinnster.fqdn.net/
There's a lot of info on there so you'll have to sift through some of it.

A few things I'd like to mention from personal experience are 1. It's a good idea to at least start with 100% Kanekalon jumbo braid which can be bought places like Doctored Locks: ikickshins.net/bulk.htm and I Kick Shins: www.doctoredlocks.com/store/k...mbo.html
I've not yet ordered from Doctored Locks personally but I know a lot of people who are very pleased with them. I should also note that while I Kick Shins has a fine color selection, they certainly take their sweet time getting your orders to you.

    2. Steamers work much MUCH better than hair dryers and boiling water. If you have access to one it's really your best bet.

and 3. The quality of your back-combing reflects the quality and long life of your dreads. Don't skimp on it!

    Good Luck!

Awesome! Thank ou i actually have a beauty store down the street that sells the Kanekalon. i'm gonna stop by there tonight. I highly doubt there is anything like this but do you know if there are any metallic or at least some that have that metallic shimmer to them?

You might braid in a yarn that has a little lurex in it or simply put a few threads of lurex in with the hair.

Honestly if you want hair save your time and extra money for shipping and go to a local beauty supply shop that specialises in weaving and extensions. I make my dreads for sale and that is were I get all my supplies. All the hair is usually from the same brands.

If you have any questions you can find me on my tribe
    tribes.tribe.net/aileenfairycat

Personally I prefer the look of wool dreads, if you want to know more about those I can also help you out.

Ooh, I'd like to know about making wool falls... I always think they look so pretty and we have a small rare breeds farm near us that makes their own beautiful wool in very limited batches which would make gorgeous falls.

      Thanks!

Felting wool into dreads is pretty easy as long as you pick the right type of wool, but I've only made one piece with felted wool. You better check with other tribesters for more info =)

P.S. Wool is much lighter than synthetic hair...but on a summer day its a wool hat, lol...and that's rough.

But unlike synthetic you can get the wool ones went and create a nice cool down. I wear my dread falls to the ren Faire where I am an ale wench and love some water wars. My dreads don't mind the abuse.
