So, what's the secret to putting on false eyelashes properly? I couldn't get them positioned right! Any help would be most appreciated.I'm almost ready to give up!

Sat, September 15, 2007 - 11:36 AMSince I don't know what your specific issue with them is, so this may or may not help. ^^
Eyeshadow and liner should go on before the lashes. This 1) makes the eyelash glue easier to wash off later because it's not directly on your skin and 2) it's really hard to put these on after you have huge curling lashes attached (and trying to put the liner on over the lashes can also knock them loose). Also, don't put on mascara before attaching the fake lashes.
When I apply the lashes, I first curl my lashes to help give them a better base to sit upon. Then I apply the eyelash glue to the lashes, waiting approximately 30 seconds for the glue to get tacky (I like to use the glue that dries black because it enhances my black eyeliner). I line up the lashes with the outer edge of my eye/lashes (side closest to your temple/hairline) and stick them to that side first, smoothing them on towards the middle. I tend to stick them to the line of skin right above the lashes, putting them as close to the my lashes as possible, but not putting the line of glue directly on my own lashes. I wait a few seconds for the lash glue to fully dry and then use my lash curler to blend my lashes with the fake ones, then I use mascara to further blend. If you are using a fun colored fake lash, use clear mascara.
I hope this helps! ^_^

Sun, September 16, 2007 - 1:22 AMPractice to be honest, and tweezers. When I first started wearing false eyelashes it would take me ages to get them on, now I can do them really quickly just because I've practiced. Make sure they don't need trimming or anything, as you won't be able to position them if they are longer than the outline of your eyelid.

Re: false eyelash problem
Sun, September 16, 2007 - 5:44 AMbasically practice lots!...and try different methods to see what works for you.
before actually applying them, hold them up to your eye and see how long they are. usually cutting a little bit off either end makes them more comfortable. if you have lashes that actually extend all the way from the inner to the outer corners of your eye they tend to poke when you blink.
i save lashes for very last (or last as far as eye makeup goes)...i curl and apply mascara before putting the lashes on. some people do and some people dont, see what you like. i actually overcurl mine a bit to get them to blend into the fake lashes better.
apply the glue and wait till it gets tacky... but not dry!. some people recommend bending the lash "caterpillar" fashion a few times (hold both ends and bend like a wave) i do this if i remember...i don't notice a difference really.
i use tweezers to apply, the applicator doohickey some sets come with has never worked for me *shrug*
personally i start applying at the center. hold the lash in the center close to the base and i kind of come in from above and try to place the lash down as close to the lashline as possible. i adjust the center and then go back and position the inner and outer corners. then blend the lashes.
i find this method works for me because i have already curled and applied mascara....kind of "dropping" them on and out of the way of your real lashes.
you can also start from the outer edge and lay the lash down as you go from outer to inner corner. this seems to work better if there is nothing on your eyelashes yet, because you are working horizontally and there are no curled lashes getting in your way.
but really it just takes practice. like using liquid eyeliner! :) -
