eye kandy, you gotta luv it!

ok i have the worst time trying to get makeup on that looks star quality, i usually do the basics when it comes to eyes, you know a color on the lid, darker color in the crease and highlight the brow, throw a pinch of gold on the inner and outer corners, mascara and line with kohl....well not any more.
I tried some eye kandy (see previous thread eye glitter that stays put) and it works! I use mac but their adhesive has nothing on what comes with the eye kandy and the colors of the eye kandy are to die for. I used some last night for a hafla/holloween party, first of all it went on really really easy and, it stayed, all night. I got soooo many compliments.
I like it so much i chose another color today to wear to work, it just makes your eyes pop!
Oh and by the way, one time i accidently got some of the mac adhesive in my eye, it burned so much even after i flushed the eye i didn't know if i would perform or not, last night i did it again (i'm just a clutz when it comes to eye lining) and it stung for just a moment and then i was fine.
Anyway, i wanted to thank dom for getting it to me, the great detailed instructions and suggestions that come with your purchase and basiclly let you all know it's fantastic. unfortunatly i don't think my husband took any closeups to show you but i'll take one tonight of the makeup i put on for work so you can see what i mean about the beautiful color and its staying power! this stuff is fantastic!

I actually got some of the Eye Kandy adhesive in my eye the other night...OUCH..for about 5 seconds, and then I was like "Oh, ok...no biggie" My makeup did not run, my eyes were not red....everything was fine......not so of anything else I've ever used. I am IN LOVE with eye kandy!

    Questions:

Who had the best deal on Eye Kandy for a first time user? I think I've seen one glitter and the adhesive for ~$25.00 and $6.00 for additional colors.

What colors does a beginner usually get? I'm thinking black for eyeliner, gold, and silver for shading and body use, multi for body and shading, and a reddish for lips and cheeks? Does anyone put this on their cheeks or is that too much color for the face???

    Whaddayasay?

The price is set by the company, so that $25 for kit with one colour is the same price you will get from everyone. Extra colours when bought with the kit are $6 each, but if you buy them later, they are $7.50 each.

People pick all sorts of colours depending upon what they like. Caramel Apple is a fantastic starter colour, and there are many shades of gold. The sugars are super irridescent and are amongst my faves. They look scary bright in the pot but amazing on. I also sell eye kandy...there are tons of distributors on Tribe. I'm addicted to the stuff, which is why I became a distributor.

I sell it, Qamar sells it- there's plenty of us online who sell it- we're all addicts LOL!

I love, love, love it! Its ssssoooo much fun, looks ssssooooo good and is so easy my ten year old daughter uses it!

Its that easy to look good!

Go to the Eye Kandy and Glitter Raks tribe--look at my profile and you'll see an M for moderator by it.

There's a list in there of all of us who vend it.

If you see it for LESS than $25 plus $6 an additional colors it's against company rule and also probably by an unauthorized vendor (we've had an issue as of late).

              BY THE WAY....

Black Bart is the black. I get more "eeehhhh" reactions to this b/c it's not metallic. Instead, pick something like Rachel's Rooster Tail (glitter raks color), licorice stick, or even red, or zahaira (glitter raks color) b/c it will flip flop if you have waterproof black eyeliner underneath. Eyeliner under will darken every color, but some will create a flip flop.

Reds: Candy Apple is the brick red, cherry bomb is a more fuscia red, candy cane is more of a deep hot pink red.

Golds: I swear by Sugar Cane. High lights, lowlights----bright gold, dark gold, and bronzes. But Yellin Mellon is holographic gold, but for daily wear, sugar cane, honey drop, butterscotch, toffee is a good dark gold/caramel. Caramel Apple, as Qamar said, is awesome b/c it's a gold, bronze, green.

LOL! So, I'm thinking the whole kit ;-)!

I didn't know that black bart was a "flatish color". Thanks for letting me know. And I was looking at one gold, but now maybe I'd like two. Gotta really think about this.

                Thanks for the help,

What "kind" of gold color do you picture? Give me something that color and I can tell you what Eye Kandy matches it.

Gosh, so many choices! Is the Black Bart non metallic? It looks like it has some glitter in it.

Can the same adhesive be used on Glitter Raks?

If you were to use the glitter as body dust, can you use a different makeup brush to apply it?

I'm going to post a video below. I'm not sure if anyone will be able to see it, but I love the makeup that Sharon Kihara has on in the video. She's featured about 3/4 of the way through. Is this Eye Kandy or Glitter Raks?

                    Thanks,

yes the adhesive can be used for Glitter Raks, it can also be used for any of those mineral makeups that you see out there ie. True Colors. You can mix the glitter in gel, or lotion to put on your body, or I have even just dusted it right on with a full brush.
Yes the Black Bart is metallic, it is full on glitter, but it is so dark that it doesnt catch the light as well as others, but I still love that one, plus its great to mix with other colors to intensify the color.
Eye Kandy and Glitter Raks are the same thing...,.Eye Kandy is the company and Glitter Raks is just a special line of colors inspired by belly dancers.
                      Hope that helps.....

Glitter Raks is a wee bit different than the explanation above.

Glitter Raks is a non-profit line of colors designed by dancers, with profits going to charity. Rachel Brice is wearing the Rooster Tail with proceeds to Survival Int'l, Princess Farhana's and mine go to VOR, Jim Boz and Tempest's go to cancer research as well as Alyanya which will be reintroduced, and I'm in talks with a few other dancers.

Glitter Raks is also a line of more "stage" colors--lime green, bright yellow, sky blues, intense reds, and I get these all in very limited quantities so it's best to e-mail me with what your costume looks like and I can find something to match.

Glitter Raks is the only subdivision of Eye Kandy authorized to do blends b/c of the controlled conditions it's done in (i.e. prevents contamination) but also b/c it's, again, non-profit.

BUT, they come from the same factory so you can mix your Glitter Raks with Eye Kandy to make wild colors and it will all be compatible, so the adhesive is, too! :)

Ta da! And if you have a local vendor you use and you love the Glitter Raks as well, have them contact me so you don't have to place two orders--I can send it to your distributor and she can take care of ya!

                      1. Reps. Usually people chose by "I see someone selling it!" For instance, I vend at Tribal Fest and Rakkasah West. I was the first bellydance distributor and have been wearing this stuff for years, so a lot of my sales came from people who knew me. BUT, I would honestly go to www.eyekandycosmetics.com and look up who is closest to you on the distributor list! Or, go with whomever you choose. Prices will be the same, quality of product the same, regardless. But Eye Kandy Cosmetics.com has the list of who we are and where!!
                      2. Most of us take PayPal, some of us take money order or personal cheque. Storefronts take credit cards, but I don't know any of us online vendors who do.
                      3. I would recommend you do:
                      a. Daytime daily wear color
                      b. One that matches your favorite costume
                      c. One fun one or one that matches anything.

For instance, in my purse right now is O Lungo Drom for daily wear (about to be released, it' a brick red/brownish/gold, but usually I have Sugar Cane in here), I have Taffy F b/c it matches a new costume I just got and wore a few nights ago and I haven't cleaned out my purse, and 14, which is a fun blended color I thought I sold out of but found 3 more of! Nothing I own matches it, but I love it! HOWEVER, I grind it in with my HIP in that shocking teal color, and it makes a kick-butt eyeshadow!!!!

                        Hi Rom:

Well, it's time I take the plunge! I will be sending you an order of what I'd like, through your website of course :-)

Wish me luck and talk to you soon!

PS I think Black Bart is definitely on my list as is Rachel's Rooster Tail! And I love the PayPal payment. It's easy for me.

You can definitely mix them all. You can also mix it in with a bit of your favorite loose eye shadow OR in your acrylics for glitter nails.

As for reps, all the current bellydance reps are awesome. People come up to me at TF or Rakkasah and tell me how great their rep is, where they saw her...so you don't have to worry about which rep you choose, I don't think.....they're all awesome.

I have a question! Maybe a dumb one:
Can I put eye kandy sparkle all over my lid? I see it used as a liner with the liquid sugar and brush, but I'm wondering if I can just put it over my shadow to make my shadow sparkle. How do I do that? Just put some sugar on my fingertips, dab my eyelid, and sprinkle a little kandy sparkles on it? Will that work?

HA!!! I read this too quickly and thought...HUH???? Why would you want to put eye kand sparkle all over my KID? Then I read "I can just put it over my shadow to make my shadow sparkle" and I thought you were being cute calling your kid your shadow. Man do I need some sleep...zzzzzzzz

I use a wide shadow brush to apply eye kandy as a shadow. I actually wear it that way a lot more than as a liner. I dip the brish in liquid sugar, wipe the excess off on the rim and then dip the brush into the glitter. Then just paint it on in small strokes, either on bare lid or over a regular shadow. Finger application won't give you enough control over the application as a brush will provide.

OK, this has me a little bit worried.

I have to admit, I didn't really like the pictures of the models on the Eye Kandy website. Especially the eye shadow look. The glitter looked like it was applied in "patches". I'm looking for an evenly dispersed glitter look and not in clumps.

When I get my kit, should I just apply my facial lotion and not dip the brush in the liquid to get a nice shadowy look and not patches of glitter? Every glitter cosmetic I have currently gives me the clumpy look and that was what I wanted to avoid.

              A worried,

Wait....if you want liner, you use it straight to make a line.

To get it evenly distributed, this is what I do for an all over lid look: Take my HIP powder, use the end of my lip brush to chisel a bit out that I need for my eye. Use the end of the same lip brush to get out a little bit of glitter and put it in the powder. Use the end of the lip brush to stir it up, and then apply using either the applicator for eyeshadow or an eyeshadow brush. Voila!!!!!! Evenly distributed.

To get a FULLY COVERED lid with glitter, apply a base so it had something to adhere to (I actually use a shade of eyeshadow similar with a slight creme texture), and the get the brush wet and PAT it on. I can send you a step by step picture of that, Azeeza, that I did for Mavi.

The lotion is the issue, too, Azeeza. Eye creams and lotions are too heavy and make the glitters congeal. Use, if you want totally nude and only glitter, Mary Kay's post-dermabrasion serum, or actually any serum. That has a slight firming effect as well and will work a bit better and not clump!!!

Go to Karizma's tribe... she sells the eye kandy glitter. I bought a load of the stuff... and LOVE IT!!!! It really is nothing to be scared of . Just play with it a little and find what you like best. You can mix colors, you can use it alone, you can use as a liner, you can use as total eye makeup, you can even use it on your lips for longer lasting lip color. The stuff is fantastic.

Got my Kandy (a while ago) and I played with it today (finally).

It's EXACTLY what I've been looking for! None of the other glitter stuff really created the look I was wanting. I used it just as a light shadow on the end of my cosmetic shadow brush and I had the dusting of glitter I was looking for! I put it on top of some other shadow that I had. I've not tried it as an eyeliner though. Maybe tomorrow, if I have time :-D

    YAHOO!!
