Im sorry if this topic has already been discussed but Im kinda new here.
Ive recently made an arangement of flowers to pin to my hair for a tribal costume but wasnt sure what to attach them to, to afix in my hair? It might be to big for a barette, I was thinking maybe an alligator clip?
If any one has any advice Ill gladly take it! lol
Thank you ladies =)

Re: How to attach flowers to hair?
Wed, November 14, 2007 - 7:37 PMya without knowing the size of the steam your hair length and texture or the size of the flower it's hard to way. if i want to use a steamed flower i use the big industrial bobby pins ans first stick it into my hair which is usually up then pin it in place with either one or two depending on how secure it feels. if i want to wear just a flower no steam so it lays flatter to my head i then take smaller bobby pins and pin the base petals to my hair in a few spots. i've had good luck with both techniques.

Re: How to attach flowers to hair?
Tue, November 20, 2007 - 12:52 PMi used claw clamps when i made my flowers, but my hair's kinky and anti gravity, so i can also just stick the stems in and no matter how hard i shake my head or spin or whatever, they don't fly out =p

Re: How to attach flowers to hair?
Wed, November 21, 2007 - 3:05 PMWell, I'd like to know the answer too, so I'll give you stats: ;)
Heavy but fine (pain in the ass, too soft to hold anything), falls between shoulder blades. If I want anything to stay in, either I gotta be really still--isn't gonna happen---or the sucker has to practically be bolted on.
Any ideas?

Re: How to attach flowers to hair?
Fri, November 23, 2007 - 6:16 AMIf your hair is long and you're tying it up in some way, then I've found that this works very good: I take the flowers, and glue them to these chinese hair sticks you can buy. then I just pin them into my pony, bun, or whatever - good luck! -

Re: How to attach flowers to hair?
Fri, November 23, 2007 - 1:47 PMI have long-ish thin, fine hair. I put it completely up in a bun for performances (since even if I style my hair is loses any attractiveness as soon as I sweat, so I stick with yarn falls). After my bun is made I put another strong elastic around the bun and then poke the stems of my flowers through that, instead of my hair. They stay in really well that way, and because they're not affixed to a clip I can re-arrange them however I like for whatever costume I'm using.
I also have my yarn falls and cowrie falls on a strong hair elastic and put that around my bun before any flowers if I want to.
You can also make flower-covered headbands which can look very pretty. Hot glue is your friend!! :-)

Re: How to attach flowers to hair?
Sat, November 24, 2007 - 5:00 PMI have super short hairs (The longest spot is about 2 1/2 inches) and I use a couple of methods. I usually start by hot gluing the flowers to a piece of felt. The I make a little flap on the back to thread a bobby pin through. Then I backcomb the spot I want to pin it to and pin it in in a couple of directions. Also you can do the little flap thing and use an alligator clip. Or sometimes I glue them to the felt and them stitch a wig clip on the back and then do the backcombing and stick it in my hair. Those things hold on the the finest of fine hair. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay.
