I used to have a lot of time on my hands when I worked in a local dance store. We sold everything imaginable for dancers/actors and so on. I played in the make-up a whole lot. We sold Ben Nye products and Mehron. So long story short, I mixed Final Seal, (I believe its made by Proface or Ben Nye) and Ben Nye eyeshadow (Bronze) and painted my shoes!!!!!!!
Yes, Final Seal, which is used for holding make-up in place even through a freakin hurricane, AND Ben Nye (Bronze) EyeShadow. I mixed them, painted them onto suede dance shoes and 6 years later, they have not faded or chipped. They look just like they did when I painted them and I have walked through rain, massive puddles, mud, gravel, you name it. I also painted leather with the same mixture but different color of Ben Nye eye shadow (Mermaid Green) and the same results. I havent tried it yet, but Im sure you can use other eye shadows to mix with Final Seal to create shoe paint! Sure you can go buy actual shoe paint, but when you see an eye color that you know is a rare shoe color, then youve got your answer right here.

Re: Another discovery about eye shadow
Sat, May 10, 2008 - 3:33 PMLOL!!!!!!!!!!! Your facial skin is a whole other thing than shoes, and the materials they are made from, yes I know animal skin. Do I look like a cow? LOL! Dont answer that! Anywho, Final Seal has been my best friend. I admit that it DOES make it harder to get your make-up off. Thats why you simply use make-up remover. I painted the shoes with a blush brush......(it was old anyway) and it made even strokes that blended well. Yes, the shoes, I still wear them. But I havent exactly experimented with them by spilling make-up remover on them. Your shoes and your face are different. Also adding to that, I mixed the fluid with the eyeshadow to the point of thickness. Not watery! You do not ever use this much Final Seal when you spray it on your face, as you are only supposed to spritz once. I dumped the bottle half way out when I skinned layers off my eyeshadow to make the paint. See the difference?

Re: Another discovery about eye shadow
Sat, May 10, 2008 - 3:48 PMCrap, I just responded to this and it didnt appear....oh well. I'll repeat.
Final Seal makes make-up stay on through anything, however, you need make-up remover to get it off easier. It comes off ok with soap and water. But leather and suede are not the same skin as on your face. So this is a whole different thing here. Final Seal is safe. I admit, I have not attempted to wipe my shoes clean with make-up remover. But as I said, they lasted through 6 years of renn faire walking, dancing, clubbing, and so on. Do what you will with the final seal, as everyone reacts differently to it anyhow.
Adding to that, I used a half of a small bottle of final seal THEN mixed it with chunks of eyeshadow when I was painting the shoes. When you use it on your face, you do not use half the bottle!!! You only spritz once. There is a difference. :) Basically what Im saying is, with enough final seal, you can paint shoes. A spritz will nowhere near help you with painting shoes. lol. -
