Hi everyone! I am interested in making some hair falls, probably using fake hair and tassels, but I am having the hardest time trying to think of a way to secure them to my very short hair :( My hair is jaw length in the front, and even shorter in the back, but when I dance I want to use something pretty and flowing. Any ideas on how to dress up or use my short hair for bellydance? If it helps, I am putting together a tribal-style costume.
Thanks so much!

Re: Short hair and hair falls
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 11:44 AMHi! I have a similar situation with short hair. Working on a fall headband thing right now, as a matter of fact. There is a lot of GREAT info on the short belly hair tribe.

Re: Short hair and hair falls
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 11:53 AMyou can always try shortbellyhair tribe. (it's pretty slow though)
I have jaw length hair and this is pretty much my routine for any sort of excess hair adornment (yarn falls, dreads, fake braids)
1. do cornrow twist things
2. secure the little tuft/pony tails attach my falls with elastics around those.
3. invert head and falls upside down
4. attach falls so they are hanging down over your face (head upside down)
5. extra elastic around the whole sehbang, baby claw clips into hair and falls from the back side (gives height and security)
6. re-vert head, flipping hair back over
ta-da should be attached.
sometimes I don't get one side even and I have to redo it, then I stick my flowers hair sticks bobby pins quills etc etc in
The other thing I do which is a little different is I give myself a bun, little higher up. Fake hair braided into one long braid. After doing the cornrows, I take that and clip it into where the corn rows end and wrap it around itself like you would a bun. Secure and bobby pin the hell out of it. Then attach your falls via elastic over that. I find it produces a fairly realistic result of heigh and length. Extra hair, with bobby pins followed by little inch sized claws clips followed by hair sticks will be your saviour.

I have some more from the perfomance after that which are way more clear... just straight hair and quills... it was the 'bun' variation (the vidoe from my blog shows it, but I'll try to get pic's up for you later... need to resize them, they were off a different camera and way to big for tribe)
