I just posted a few pix of my costume, Ripper Victim. This is my very first attempt at a latex appliance and I think it turned out great. Sorry if you're squeamish. Think I'll win scariest? I'm considering secreting a plastic bag of chicken guts under my dress and letting it fall out during the judging...That oughta do it....( I love Halloween!)

Anywhoos, I've been using black eyeliner to smudge "darker" parts of my wounds. LIke the exposed deeper parts that are supposed to be inside your skin. Just rub a little black in there first (after you apply your latex) then apply all your fake blood all over it. Makes it look a little more gorey & real.
