Ok - there was a discussion about eyeliner, and in it thre ws talk aout white eyeliner on the inner lid to make ht eyes larger. My problem is, I can't FIND a white eyeliner that does much. I have plenty of kohl, and I have some black/brown sticks that have good color, but the white ones I find - Rimmel, Jane, etc never put down enough color to make any difference. I just end up irritating my eye trying to get it on heavy enough to see. Then my lashline is REALLY pink, so it's even worse.
What brand of white eyeliner makes a GOOD SOLID white, except the liquids?

Re: white eyeliner
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 1:30 PMBen Nye has a white liquid liner. That's what I use most. You really shouldn't put eyeliner on the rim of your lid. It can irritate your eyes, and (especially with a liquid liner), you risk an eye infection due to bacteria on the liner.
White liquid liner can be applied right below the lashline and the black liner applied below it. For a smaller stage, you can apply it from the point the eye begins to curve towards the outer corner to that corner and a little beyond (my profile pic shows mine that way). For a large stage, you can apply it all the way across and apply the black below it. -

Mon, October 10, 2005 - 1:31 PMOh, and you can do the same thing with a pencil liner, but it's not going to show up as well. -

Re: white eyeliner
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 2:36 PMIf you are on a budget, you can try Avon's white eyeliner. I'm sure doesn't have as strong of a tint as Mac, but it will do the job. Just might have to apply it twice. -

Re: white eyeliner
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 3:50 PMI would have suggested that. I'm assuming you're talking about the Eye-Mark eyeliner. It works okay (good for small spaces especially), but unfortunately it's been discontinued.

Re: white eyeliner
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 8:23 PMNot to argue with your advice...because I know youre right from a bacterial standpoint...but when I was in high school I lined the inner lower lid of my eye with a white wet n wild pencil every day for about a year...I am a contact lens wearer and I never had any problems with irritation or infections.
I think it kind of depends on if you have trouble with eye cosmetics to begin with, I usually don't have trouble with ANYTHING for eyes. But I know some people are different, and do have reactions.
All I did was hold the white pencil(wet n wild is kind of hard, i think thats why it stayed on well) under hot running water til it was a bit softer, and apply.
I don't think a liquid would work as well as a pencil. -

Re: white eyeliner
Thu, May 1, 2008 - 7:22 AMif you keep it clean, you're less likely to get a problem, but if it picks up bacteria anywhere (from your sink counter, being droped.. or-and jsut dont do it with liner- sharing it, then you're putting that bacteria right in your eye. i take the risk, but i take the liner out of the lid, and don't set it down unless i've pushed the lid on as close to air tight as i can make it. it's still a risk.
ps, your kimono is GORGOUS ^_^

Re: white eyeliner
Thu, May 1, 2008 - 11:12 AM*giggle*...I used to just pass a lighter underneath the tip of the eyeliner...not even enough to really say it had been done, but it warmed the liner up just enough for it to go on smoothly...and yes, I put it on my inner rim, too...I know it's not a good idea, but I think we've all done it, at one time or another...
Another thing you can do to make the eyes 'pop', is just put a dot of powdered eyeshadow next to the inner and outer edges of the eyes...it's not as noticeable and it really brings the attention to your eyes...just be sure you don't over-do it and make sure to softly blend it in with the rest of your eye make-up...it's a much more subtle approach... -

Re: white eyeliner
Thu, May 1, 2008 - 2:01 PMthe lighter idea is a great way to keep the tip of the pencil clean. Cool trick! you don't need to keep the pencil very close to the flame for it to be effective. If every time you use the pencil you pass it by a lighter before/after use you make it very difficult for bacteria to establish! so you should be fine putting that liner on your inner lid. hey afterall rubbing your eyes with your hands is dirty than that eyeliner!

Re: white eyeliner
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 8:41 PMI found a liquid white liner at Wal-mart this evening for $1.97.
I'll look at what the brand is when I get home. -

Re: white eyeliner
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 9:29 PMThis is the ghetto way of doing it, but I've never had any problems with any kind of pencil liner because I would just hold my lighter flame under it for a couple of secs to soften it up, and all was rad ... just a random tip for anyone who needed it

Re: white eyeliner
Tue, October 11, 2005 - 5:15 PMMAC is my favorite :) Physician's Formula has a pretty good one, and Details makes eyeliners (liquid, powder, and pencil) in a wide range of colors. I get the Details brand at my local theater shop. -

Fri, October 14, 2005 - 8:45 AMDoes anyone have a close up of what the white eyeliner looks like when it is on the eyes? -

Re: white eyeliner
Fri, October 14, 2005 - 11:22 AMYes, I would like to see that too! I bought a white eyeliner pencil from MAC, and its really nice...however, i would like to see what it is SUPPOSED to look like! its REALLY white, and I guess it should only be used for stage performances?

Re: white eyeliner
Fri, October 14, 2005 - 3:35 PMI just added three pics to the photo album. There is a pic of my eye with pencil eyeliner on, my eye with liquid liner on, and me in full stage makeup--including white eyeliner--for a moderately large stage (not the best pic, but oh well). -

Re: white eyeliner
Sun, October 16, 2005 - 11:50 PMI have done liner inside the lash line for as long as I can remember when I get all dressed up. I've never had any problems...except the fun times when the tip of the liner breaks off and I poke myself in the eyeball ;)
I use Wet N WIld (I know, cheapo brand but hey!) white pencil eyeliner. It stays very well for me, has a good color, and is very inexpensive (which, let's face it, is a bonus...gives me more $$ to spend on costuming!). -

Re: white eyeliner
Tue, October 18, 2005 - 2:12 PMI love using white eye-liner for a base... I'll post a picture so ya'll can see what I mean.... I line the area (upper or under eye), then apply eyeshadow on top of that. usually of the glittery-fashion (I usualyy dab it on with a Q-tip)... The white eye-liner gives the shadow/glitter something to stick to, and it doesn't wear off! -

Re: white eyeliner
Wed, October 19, 2005 - 8:31 PMno, thank YOU for the compliment Jemira!
the trick is to draw on a thin line with a pencil first... then go over it with matching eyebrow powder/shadow...
Oh, and also look at yourself straight on in the mirror to make sure they are even!
Have fun! -

Re: white eyeliner
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 5:27 PMThis is an old thread but I was gonna post that white eyeliner has become my new best friend! And speaking of Wet & Wild cosmetics (thanks Karma!), their black liquid eyeliner is da bomb! I was spending $25 for LipInk brand, which was incredible but the fumes!!! And it's all natural.....natural fumes!?!? I'm a big ol sweater so spending a couple of bucks on truly stay put make-up is heaven!!!
