I've seen MAC Shadestick mentioned as a base in a few threads. I'm thinking of buying it but not too sure. Anyone who has tried the Shadestick think it wonderful or you've tried it and found a better product, I'd like to hear your thoughts :)

Thanks!

i have the deep brown one....lentil something? i really love it for everyday. it's smooth and easy to apply...i don't have to mess with it and unlike my powder shadow's it doesn't drip little bits of color on my cheeks : )

i also bought the sharkskin but haven't used it much because it's such a dramatic dark grey...i do love it when it's on but haven't had the excuse to wear it alot.

i use mine over shadow's and i haven't pulled at my eye yet...it just kind of glides on. i have also used it under shadow's and it hasn't pulled anymore than other non liquid liner type things do ...i think for me it's a bit less because the tip is large and blunt. i like a soft look.

but....i'm not a heavy applicator...i'm not putting down lots of product at a time (maybe that's why it doesn't pull?) ...i just like it to highlight and add some shimmer and color.

There are mixed feelings concerning the Shadestick. Some love it and some, just don't care for it.

I for one, being in my fifties, I prefer to use the paint pots or paints as a base. I have found that using the paints/paint pots pulls on my eyelids much less than the shadestick. Using the shadestick, one tends to hold the eyelid to the side in order to get an even coverage; with the paints/paint pots you can use a concealer brush, less pull. Of course, this is a personal preference; I do not wish to add pre-mature wrinkles on my already wrinkled eyes, if you know what I mean. LOL

Of course, these are my feelings, being a MAC addict and all =D

    Blessings

Thank you for your imput. I hadn't heard about the MAC Shadestick until I started watching panacea81 makeup tutorials on youtube. She uses the Shadestick a lot as a base for her eye makeup. And yes, she does tend to pull the skin around her eyes when she applies it sometimes. That scares me :)

I have seen many a video with the makeup artist using the shark skin and I see the pulling of the eyelids. Maybe the pulling is when the shadestik is "cold" and needs to be warmed between your hands a little before applying it to your lids. No matter the reason, any pulling on the eyelids leads to pre-mature wrinkles.

I love to wear makeup, especially on the weekend. It is when I would take the time to duplicate a look I saw in a magazine, cd cover, etc. I am no stranger to makeup and I love, love, love! LOL

Any hoo, if you do get the shadestik, please let us know how you like it.

I got a couple of shadesticks recently and haven't found they pull excessively; seem to go on fairly smoothly. I don't think they're a replacement for paints, as I find the coverage is a bit better with my MAC paint, but they work quite well.

I found I was a bit sensitive to something in the shadesticks, so it you've got skin allergies, test one first before putting it all over your eyelids. I do however love MAC's cream color bases. Having a solid color base really does make eyeshadows much more vibrant.

I also watched the you tube panacea vids using shadestick and loved the effect it gave so I took the plunge and brought the sharkskin one and for performance makeup it's awesome... I used it for my end of year concerts and it lasted the entire night (I sweat like a pig...never understood that saying since pigs don't sweat...but I digress;) and it was veryyyy esy to use...and I was nervous coz it can be quite strong...but use other shadows over, it can tone down the grey...works wonderfully! I recommend it! I also don't have to stretch the skin...depends on shape of eyes I guess..

I'm tempted to get it. I'm amazed how it looks with different eyeshadows over it.

        *shuffling in seat*

Hi my name is Lisa and I am a Youtube makeup channel addict too.

I have sharkskin and it is the bomb for me (re the sweating thing). I also have a few pigments which I used over the top - have been practising but not worn any for performances yet!

Then again I am a Mac addict full stop!
