I'm leaving on a 10 week tour of 10 countries in Europe next Thursday, May 8th and the
theme of my entire tour is Dayglo Orange Plastic and I'm discovering that most
of the manufacturers of the UV paste products have discontinued them.
L'Anza Fractals F12 Giga hold is no more.
They seriously reduced the number of colors with Punky Colors Tempry colors.
Manic Panic Dye Hard in tubes has discontinued some of their colors
and ICE hair doesn't seem to have an Orange that glows in the dark.
Last night I put Dye Hard yellow with Ice Red but only the yellow in it glows under a black light
(and it looks like hell)
DAYGLO ORANGE seems to have gone missing. I'd prefer paste to spray (and I"m not talking about the
temporary color that washes out in a few weeks, but the stuff that you put in and out of your hair on a daily basis).
I live in Santa Cruz but would drive as far as SF if I can find some of these products at the last minute.

Re: help! anyone know where to find temporary UV active ORANGE hair dye (paste or spray)
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 12:01 AMwow, that looks great,
but no way to get them in time for my tour (and 8 lbs plus 17% VAT puts them close to
$20 each....................ouch!!!!!!
I find them pricey at $8 each when I can find them.
Oh well, I'll be in London (performing at the Klinker one night and seeing My Bloody Valentine in Camden Town
the next night in June.........maybe I'll pick some up then.) -

Re: help! anyone know where to find temporary UV active ORANGE hair dye (paste or spray)
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 4:36 AMoh and just to be annoying and triple post the s.e. will last up to six months. id sure does on me i know. i tend to dye it magenta witha loreal product instead of prebleaching. then when that fades i through my s.e. over it and it lasts forever. at least three months real good with little fading. but you can see some results on different peoples hair with different prosesing . my guess is since your already orange it looks that s.e. with only bleached roots would hook you up. okay i stop now. good luck again. -

Re: help! anyone know where to find temporary UV active ORANGE hair dye (paste or spray)
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 3:20 PMthanks so much Morae,
you were the person who solved my dilemma.
I actually have greyish dirty blonde hair that I will then bleach the hell out of.
do you think the S.E. dyes last better because of going over the L'oreal magenta?
or would you just bleach the hell out of it.
also, one thing for me is my hair grows ridiculously fast and I have a short hair cut
so I'm hoping that this will look good for a month until I have to dye it one last time
in Europe (assuming I can find stuff there).
thanks so much everyone. I really appreciate this.
and I'll release this CD/DVD in the fall if anyone is interested in a record largely composed
of Dayglo Orange Plastic..............lol -

Re: help! anyone know where to find temporary UV active ORANGE hair dye (paste or spray)
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 1:31 AMJust wanted to follow up with some things I discovered.
1st, I found the lava orange (that reputedly glows under black light ---it says it on the actual bottle)
on cutout at Hot Topic. They had it for $15/bottle...........it was reduced to $11/bottle and then put
on the half price table to I made out like a bandit buying three bottles for $6 each.
I opened it up and put it under blacklight and it just doesn't seem like it is UV reacitve, though.
It also looked far redder than it is supposed to be (I know that color always looks different once you've
put it on and I haven't tried it yet).................I went out and got one bottle of Bright *$*##@*$#*$ Yellow)
to mix with it so we'll see.
But even more interesting, someone read this post and my recent blog about my tour and turned me on their
company in Nashville that is making eco friendly, non-toxic and not tested on animals temporary dyes that
glow 'BY THEMSELVES" in the dark (with out a black light).
I went to the website and it looks fantastic and really bright and they have ORANGE!!!! yeah,
I just don't know if I have time to have them ship it to me before I go on Thursday to Gothenborg, Sweden.
Thanks for all the help and check out these iGlow people in Nashville

Re: help! anyone know where to find temporary UV active ORANGE hair dye (paste or spray)
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 3:00 AMouch 15? yikes. though i am not sure i could buy it here for the normal 11 and ship it to you any cheaper. all praise my local salon!!! glad you got it for 6 man scarf up all you can!
i have not tested my hair under any uv lights. since i have none, so though it says i should be uv reactive i may not be. however i have uv fake dreads that are and look awesome, thats a secondary thought for you. hmm wheels turning.
as for color. well other then the site i snet you the link for that shows it on different peoples heads, all color swatches are crap! and it looks different in bottle then on your head. my atomic pink is redder and darker then cherry bomb or hot lava, hmm which ever i used to mix it with, until you put it on. then it is the right shade. hope this works out for you and doesn't scare you off. i think mixing it with the yellow is a splendid idea and i can't wait to see pictures of it on you. hint hint hint.
hmm temp glow dye over es any one? ohhh drools at the idea. course i'd never get any sleep with my head glowing.

Re: help! anyone know where to find temporary UV active ORANGE hair dye (paste or spray)
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 2:53 AMahhh in other words you have the same color hair i do, wink.
honestly i have seen se over bleached and over my magenta, and it just lasts like crazy period. some of it is the persons hair, given but i think more is after care. how often do you wash? what shampoo and conditioner do you use? example i get a month out of my magenta before it fades and i have an inch worth of roots i can no longer ignore. even at that the fading isn't that bad. but i recently did someone else's hair with same dye, and... in less than a week it was faded terribly. i had to redo it. i asked her what shampoo she used, and she got all sheepish. i see her again tomorrow and we will see the results of her switching shampoos.
i prefer using the magenta to bleach because i have long hair and it damages it significantly less. i have beautiful split free hair. and the se conditions to boot. so it is up to you. loreal has many colors and i have seen some that are in the shades you would enjoyor you can always go a high lift light blond, however the se wouldn't look as good over some of their shades till you got some fading. for best loreal results to use with se use a 40 volume developer with it. this will give you highest lift and highest fade factor.
another option i just did a pale pink streak with is ion highest lift ash blond with a 40 volume developer yet again. now for an orange overlay i wouldn't use ash but something with a gold base in their lightest shade. i have a blue tinted pink having both atomic pink and cupcake so ash is great for me.
my hair grows ultra fast too and i have found no answer to that. if lazy just throw se over roots. not as good an effect but can patch you through.
sorry it took so long to respond and if you have more questions feel free to pm me. i am online all but weekends late in the day. but often forget to check this tribe since i get distracted elsewhere. hope this is all helpful. -

Re: help! anyone know where to find temporary UV active ORANGE hair dye (paste or spray)
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 6:53 AMAfter all of that, Morae, I ran into big troubles with my electronics for my tour today and , instead of
being finished with my packing at around 9 p.m. as I Thought I would be , so that i could cut and die
my hair, the sun is now rising at 6:50 a.m. and I still haven't finished packing.
The airporter arrives in two hours so I'm not going to have time to die my hair after all before flying
to Goteborg, Sweden for the first dates of my tour (I blogged about it, if you are interested).
I'm taking several of my remaining bottles of yellow and pink Dye Hard, temp paste so I hope that works
okay.
Thanks for your help. I have a hell of a lot of hair dye for when I get home, though...............
I just got approached by Michael Nesmiths' Video Ranch to do a show using all of my
Dayglo Orange Plastic instruments (a show done, entirely under blacklight) so I'll get a chance to
try out all the things you suggested then. I'm sure that show will end up on youtube, so I"ll let you know
when it happens.
thanks, again for your friendship and help. Have a good summer.
