I really wish i could help you sweetie. I make dreads but between the time the hair would take to get to me and the time it'd take to send them to you, I think it'd be too late.

I can recommend someone to try and buy them from but she could likely be backed up and have the same hair shipment time issue I would.

Then again, you do live in NYC. And I know for a fact there are African Hair stores around that will sell you the materials you need to make hem yourself. I also assure you it's easy as pie!

So if that'll help just let me know. I'm happy to do whatever I can.

      Thanks everyone for your help.

You say it's easy....so how do you make 'em? If I knew how to teach myself I totally would. So much easier than dealing with ..well..the people I'm trying to get and follow through and ship me my dreads that I paid for three months ago....which probably isn't gonna happen..hence the thread...hah

#1 rule for dreads in my opinion is always use 100% Kanekalon fiber. It's the best to work with for beginners and is the classic dread material. I'm just going to go ahead and assume that's what your dreads would have been made of if they ever arrived.

This is my personal favorite when it comes to general info. they cover, even just briefly, nearly everything you could need. There are a number of different methods explained there and will let you know all your options so you can figure out what's best for you depending on what equipment you have to work with.

This is an extremely wonderful forum, frequented by many of the biggest names and providers in online dread sale. It has a variety of tutorials for every different dreading method invented thus far. I love it to death and dabble there daily.

I could give you sites to order hair form if you like, but in all honestly I just don't believe it'll get to you soon enough. Doctored Locks if the fastest I've worked with and I'm going to buy all my hair from her from now on, but I still waited about 7 business days.

Key tips from me personally, should you now or someday choose to make your own:
Steam is far better than boiling water of hair dryers, but if you don't have a steamer the boiling water should do.
Good dreads start with good backcombing. DO NOT skimp on the backcombing. It makes all the difference.
        100% Kanekalon.
Seal your tips to prevent unraveling.

And just a quick question to stifle my own curiosity; these are extensions, yes? Double-enders. As in your going to braid them into your hair. Are you wearing them as dread highlights in your hair or do you want a full head? I only ask because if you do want a full head of dreads I'm afraid 10 (or 20) won't be enough, even if they're super thick. Just something to plan for.

Sorry this was so lengthy, but I hope it helps. I'm still happy to answer any questions and provide any sources or advice I can. Good Luck! I really hope this works out for you!
