Echo allergies.

My eyes start to act up before any other symptoms kick in (like post nasal drip, sneezing, etc.). My eyes are always the first to know. And yes, frequently just *one* of them waters.

Also echo the waterproof and long-wearing eye makeup! Washable waterproof mascara is my every-day mascara. It seems to stay on longer than regular mascaras.

I have a problem with one of my eyes watering so much that now the lower lashes in the outer corner are bent down toward the corner.
Years ago my eye doctor told me that I have a problem with blocked tear ducts; she said the eye will WATER but not normally tear and lubricate so I think that when it kinda "frees up" is when the excessive watering happens.
Normally my eyes are on the dry side and then after I've manipulated the lids is when my eye gets super watery, like I've loosened things up and go it flowing.

This happens to me, too, and I think zara nailed it. Whenever it happens, I take a really close look at my naked lashes in the mirror and almost always find either (1) a very small lash poking my waterline, or (2) two longer lashes near my outer eye that cross, causing one to rub my eye in an irritating fashion. I take my eyebrow pluckers and take out the offending lash and that usually does the trick.

i've been dealing with this for a while now, and it is SO irritating! it happens whether or not i'm wearing makeup.
takes me for-freakin'-EVER to put on my makeup as it is...i loathe having to put it on...and on...and on...well, you get the idea. LOL

i ~think~ i've narrowed it down to one eyelash in the corner that is poking the lower waterline. but it's really difficult to use the curler to get it. i've contemplated pulling the darned thing out, but mine are sparse enough as it is.

wish i had some advice to help, but i'm looking myself.

the eye that does not water may be the one with the problem..... which means you may have 2 problems. You need to have a doc look at your eyes. As for the watering, you may have allergies (environmental., or makeup), or they may just be sensitive. If they are just sensitive, anything airborn can irritate them.

I have one eye that waters more than the other too. Even when I cry, that one is most likely to tear up. I don't usually have that problem when I put on makeup, but holy cow, my eyes get red when I wear it! I have tried putting in visine, but it doesn't help.

I'm not sure why this happens, but I suggest getting waterproof makeup. My eyes are really sensitive to sunlight and tend to water easily, even when I yawn sometimes, or I get emotional, but I generally don't have a problem with my makeup getting messed up. I also don't wear eyeliner on my waterline because I find that tends to aggrivate the watering, and it smears away faster an easier than if the eyeliner is on the lashline.

I'm not sure my shadow is waterproof...but I use a primer by Urban Decay under my shadow, and waterproof mascara as well as liquid eyeliner and that seems to work pretty well, I may have to clean up little eye booger type things if my eyes have been watering, but generally the makeup is fine.

Thanks Tessa. At least it's not just me. I got to thinking...about the only thing worse is being away from home and you blow a flip-flop. It's hard to look inconspicuous when it keeps trying to wrap round your ankle and trip you. And it's never where you can easily buy another! LOL

I have the same problem - and have had for years! Still not sure what causes it as it seems to be random, but as it does tend to happen when I need to look my best, I guess a lot of it is down to stress - though still randomly!. And why one eye? And why does it continue for the whole day after the need to look super is over? I know this isn't much help, but at least you know you're not alone.

This makes me sooooo mad! Sometimes, especially on the day I really want my make up to look really, really nice, ONE eye will start to water. It makes mascara run and eye shadow get blotchy before I'm even done. I try not to smoke, thinking maybe that's what does it, but it still happens. We performed today so naturally I was the dancer with one f**ked up eye. I came home, mowed, took a shower and the dang thing is still watering. Does this happen to others?
