I interrupt this thread for a special bulletin.

Note: The following post is for the purposes of humor only. I am not advocating nor offering for sale anything. Giggles gladly accepted.

Removable dreads? Heck, I just pulled several of them out of my brand-new Kenmore vacuum cleaner! LOL! Seriously... I have 2 sheltie-mix dogs (long haired). My new vacuum started acting a little oddly so the manual said to disconnect the suction hose from the body and check for anything stuck. I put my fingers in there and...voila.... I pulled out about 3 doggie-dread-locks! I just had to laugh.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I have a great reccomendation, even though I have not been into the "oh, go to Ebay" mentality, Just Wig It Fashions on Ebay, are from Austrailia. I ordered some dread falls from them last year (Irish Auburn) they are in some of my profile pics. The inside is a jaw clip, one that is removeable, since I have very thick hair, I had to change it out, use an octopus clip to hold it on properly. It comes right off so I can do a complete change, and it holds really well if I am wearing it for long periods of time.
The quality of the synthetic hair is really good actually. I have had many compliments (worn them out with the girls etc...) and many have thought that they were my real hair.
Just another option!

I'm in the process of creating a sort of dread weave that will be clipped into my hair with wig clips. I like the look of Sharon Kihara and Ariellah where the dreads are at the undercut portion of the hair. The top part of the hair either hangs down around the long dreads or are put up into buns and such. Anyway, what I'm planning on doing is I've made a bunch of long dreads which will get sewn onto strips of ribbon or lace trim. I'll probably make 2 or three of them so that the fullness of the dreaded look wont weight down the hair piece and hopefully this will prevent it from slipping out of my hair. Anyway, the wig clips will be sewn on the underside of the ribbon and the hair pieces will then be clipped in beneath the crown of my head and underneath some of my hair. Currently my hair is layered and shortish and so I'm hoping with spiking it around the falls It will look okay and not like a mullet lol.

Hairfalls/Dreadfalls are the quickest and often the most convenient method, but there are slightly longer lasting versions.

I have double ended fake dreads that plait into my existing hair and secure with those little tiny non-snag hair bands. Usually last 4 days to a week before they start coming loose. Long enough for a festival/convention/intensive. They're what I'm wearing in my user icon and most of my user pics.

Put in properly they are very secure and you can style them like a usual head of dreads, BUT they take about an hour and half plus for my husband or housemate to put in and time to take out and are also easier to put into shorter hair (shoulder length at the most).

I think there is instructions on Quinnster (see link in comment above).

Hey you are right in my area! I am in Lancaster!

There are a few things you can do Hair Falls that are based on ponytail holders and ties, or double ended dreads you can braid into your hair. I found using the falls with the dreads can create a really amazing look that can be done for just a single performance.

I have photos of some of my work on Tribe and on my Etsy

http://aileenfairycat.etsy.com or http://cyberindustries.etsy.com

I guarantee all my work and give discounts for life for those who buy my dread falls so you can add colors. If you have any questions at all feel free to contact me even if you look to buy from someone else.

I made my own dreads using this site's guideline: http://quinnster.fqdn.net/ I made single-loooped dreads and threaded them on a ribbon. I then just "nasty" my hair up a bit with gel, pull it into a couple buns, wrap the ribbon around it and pull a few dreads over the buns to hide them.

You can also try buying them here: http://ikickshins.net/bulk.htm

I have pics of mine here:

The dreads were a pain to make but fairly inexpensive (all the hair was under $20) and I'm happy with how they look.

I just bought some gorgous dreads from Brandi Franks, damn I wish I could find her card. She is a lovely person and guarentee's them for life. If they start to fray, she will redo them. She's the best. I don't know if she's in my friend list here on tribe or not. But I know she's on facebook. Look her up, very natural. I have red hair and have been searching for red dreads. Not many people make them, unless it's a special order. But she had them and me and another red head bought both her red dread stocks. It actually looks like my hair, to much fun!!
