To the category of "Grrr" I nominate Sebastian International for discontinuing all of their styling products EXCEPT a gel, a mousse and their fixative spray line. I only found out 2 days ago from my stylist (the salon doesn't carry Sebastian for sale) so when I ran over to Ulta 3 to stock up on Threads, my wonder product for over 8 years, the cupboard was bare, zip, nada, nothing, because Ulta's clearance sale had been on for 2 months! What?? The upshot here is an online search found that CVS Pharmacy carries Sebastian and I got 3 of the 4 tubes of Threads they had in stock at a local store. They still had the full Sebastian line also including Grease and Moulding Mud, it was like finding the Holy Grail! Online something called Beauty Mart also carries whatever limited supply is left out there.
I am going to write the company and tell them if I wanted to use just crappy gel or mousse (with no offense meant towards those who use those products) I would have already been buying <insert your cheap drugstore brand name here>. I want my Threads, it's the only product that keeps my short, layered style looking good 110% percent of the time!
Before I turn this in to a full-blown rant, my real purpose is to alert other Sebastian users who may not have heard about this so they can stock up or start shopping for other brands.
Climbing down from the soapbox and putting down my Mister Microphone I remain,
Caerann, Worshipper of Threads Flexible Microfiber Cream

Re: Sebastian International discontinued most of their hair products
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 5:54 AMOh, geez...I used to LOVE Molding Mud...course, this was back in the late 80's/early 90's, when big hair was all the rage...you could make hair out to the walls with that stuff...(I was a hairdresser back then)
This is sad...Sebastian was one of the best brands out there...PROTEST!!!

Sat, August 30, 2008 - 7:02 PMLoreal Professional has their 'Texture' line and it's not bad. Though I do love the Shaper Plus hairspray by Sebastian. Also, Tigi has really good styling products that you might like. Worth a try. -

Re: Sebastian International discontinued most of their hair products
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 7:28 PMYep...Tigi is pretty good...used to use it, too...and also Rusk...but I think my all time fave has to be the Matrix Biolage products...not only are they awesome, they smell soooooo good.
Oh...and I agree about the Shaper Plus...it's got a great hold, but you don't have to pull your hair out to brush thru it, when you're done. -

Re: Sebastian International discontinued most of their hair products
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 7:27 PMThe problem I have with Sebastian hairsprays are they contain either mineral oil or glycerin which pull haircolor, as you may know; especially reds. I do like Wired by Rusk but it just doesn't give me the same results and their hairspray is too tacky for my fine hair. I will check out your suggestions once my supply of Threads runs out. Many thanks, ladies. =O) -

Re: Sebastian International discontinued most of their hair products
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 9:25 PMWell, I never used it on myself...but I used it on alot of clients and I used to use it on my mom, too...but we didn't have to worry about it taking the colour out of her hair...it's completely white...
I haven't used hairspray, since I quit doing hair...and that's been over 15 yrs ago...I hate the stuff, personally...I guess that's part of the reason I like my hair long...don't have to deal with lots of product...

Re: Sebastian International discontinued most of their hair products
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 10:21 PMI don't use hairspray regularly.....which is probably why I've had my one can of Shaper Plus for 2 years. I do like the hold, but I suppose I don't use it enough to notice my color fading.
