I see these beautiful yarn dreads everywhere with all sorts of colors and I was wondering if someone could tell me how to make them.

Mostly everyone uses Colinette point five. Take and cut a length of the yarn double the length that you want the extension to be. (Hope that makes sense ^_^) Then do that again and again till you get enough for your ponytail or tails if your making two. Finally thread all of them onto an elastic ponytail tie thingy (with the thingy in the middle so the yarn falls down on both sides of it) and put it onto your hair. In my opinion, it looks cool when the ends of the yarn aren't even. It looks more like natural hair.

quinnster.fqdn.net/ has all the info you'll need on this, plus photos (because I'm not the best a describing stuff to people).

I've never made dreads so if this is the look you are going for, others will have to address questions regarding what kind of yarn to use and to how-to's for making the dreads.

As an alernative, I made hair falls instead and they turned out so cool! I think more variety of yarns looks even better. I made the falls with a combination of a fake hair piece, acrylic yarn, wool yarn, fun fur, some rainbow colored chenille, beads, coins, cowrie shells, etc. I braided it all myself (see my pic in my profile). Falls can be a little time consuming with all the braiding. But when they turn out so cool, it's worth it.

Amanda is right - falls or dreads, make sure they are different lengths. Much more realistic.
