make-up over tattoos

This is a bit long winded but please bear with me lol. The time has come for me to get a new tattoo. My previous ones have all been plain black line drawings and I'd like the new one to be the same. This is the picture I've found that I'd really like:

s229.photobucket.com/albums/...awd2469/

I think it will look very pretty in black and skin but because it's quite big I think that unless I have it on my bum cheek or something it's going to be visible when I dance so what I was wondering is can I paint something over it to funk it up a bit when it's on show like the purple in the picture? I know one of the famous dancers (can't remember which one) paints something on her peacocks that makes them shimmer but the colour is already there. Does the colour already have to be there to jazz it up or is there something you can paint on that shows up the lines but gives an eye-catching colour and won't smear and smudge all over everything and everyone? Or should I consider having ti done with the colour in it?

I've used watercolors, or waterproof makeup. I think you can also just buy really intense color and then Sephora sells a make up sealer.

Ben Nye also sells a fantastic makeup sealer called "Final Seal". I've had full makeup stay put - even lipstick - for over eight hours with no touch ups using Final Seal. I don't know how much Sephora's sealer is, but I think I got mine for about 15 dollars. ^_^

I'd highly recommend Ben Nye's creme concealer's: www.bennyemakeup.com/image/2...alog.pdf Check out page 7 of that catalog for an exmaple. You usually need to start with a yellow-base to counteract the blue/purple ink of the tat & then follow up with one closer to your skin color. Then a little powder on top.

I don't think shes trying to cove it up, she wants to make is show up more by giving it color.

I think Sharon Kihara uses eye candy on her peacocks (might be another kind of glitter, I think its eye candy, but I don't know why I think that).

I have a black and gray shaded flower on my ankle, I had intended on glitzing it up with eye kandy but I don't have any green and its on the inside of my ankle and I usually wear melos... If you get it plain black you can change the colors (via glitter or other cosmetics) with your mood, especially with something like a butterfly :-)

You can use EyeKandy (either Licorice Stick or Black Bart) to outline the tattoo with and then using one or more colors, to highlight and accent parts of it. Therefore, you get that shimmer (and sparkle) and really brings it out.

Ooooh...I likes the colour...and I'd personally add some blue along with the purple...but that's just me...

Why don't you try body paints if you really just want to have the line drawing...I'm not sure of what the best brands are, but I'd think that and some glitter sprinkled on while it's still wet would look fabulous for when you dance...y'know, like they do with face painting at ren faires and such?

Exactly what I was going to mention......body paints and glitter. Fun House Theatrical on Ebay has a ton of that kind of stuff.
It is Sharon Kihara who puts glittery pretties on her oh so beautiful peacocks.....

Think about using the Temptu line of body ink. Comes in all colors, metalics amd pearls. From itty bitty eyeliner size bottles to large liter sizes. With care, they will stay for about a week. These inks were designed to imitate the look of tatoos for stage and screen. Use the liner bottle, paint brushes, air brush. I like the henna color when I dont feel like mixing up a bigger batch of the real stuff. Paint on the design, let dry, then powder well. They recommend a translucent powder, but Ive usd eyeshadow as the powder, with lovely ressults. The ink is a little sticky and the powder sets it.

To get it off, use baby oil, vegtable oil, alcohol, elbow grease, what ever works.

        www.temptu.com

The itty bitty sizes are really quite inexpensive.

Yay!! I knew you guys would come up with something utterly fabulous :) You rock!!

On that Temptu website it's a bit confusing because they don't tell you which colours are shimmers. Or am I just being extraordinarily dim?

OK- go to the first page and click on SHOP-then:
      -body art-then:
      -dura ink-then:
      -origional-then:
      -new specialty colors-then:
-#410-419 'EFFECTS. These are the frosty ones. You can get diferent effects using a frosty high shine powder after. Remember, the ink is sticky and needs to be powdered to "set". Also, eyelash glue and rhinestones, or anything else that strikes your fancy!

Seems to me that there were more effect colors- Ill look around again and let you know.

might sound crazy but i have a really old tattoo on my upper leg that needs a tattooist's cover-up. so for now, i use as many different colour sharpies as i can find (there's lots) to make a one of a kind, one-time look and then smear lise watier body glitter in silver over everywhere... i mean, if rachey and her gang can do van dykes and mustashes after the shows for goofy fun, why not a leg?

Ya, Sharpies are toxic and not meant for skin. I'd suggest using waterproof/smudgeproof, long-lasting liquid eyeliners, which you can get in tons of colours (incl.sparkly) for cheap and they're made for application on humans. You also have more control over the line than with Sharpie.

Alternately, conceal it if ya don't want it shown. Kat von D just came out with a tattoo concealer, but for basically the same price as a single-color unit of her stuff, you can get a cover-all wheel from Ben Nye and easily blend yr own just-right shades. (It's also great for stage/photo concealer.)
